(Sept. 20, 2016)— U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) has selected Patriot Group International (PGI) as the prime contractor to provide contractor-owned, contractor-operated Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) aerial detection and monitoring support.

The awarded contract has an estimated value of $26.5 million over five years.

“Since 2009, PGI has provided expeditionary mission support to our government’s counter narco-terrorism missions across the globe, including dangerous places like Afghanistan,” said Rob Whitfield, PGI COO. “This contract supporting NORTHCOM gives us the opportunity to provide critical services and subject matter expertise closer to home.”

USNORTHCOM is a Unified Combatant Command of the U.S. military tasked with providing military support for civil authorities in the U.S., and protecting the territory and national interests of the country within the contiguous United States, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico. The Department of Defense (DoD) is the single lead agency for detection and monitoring of aerial and maritime transit of illicit drugs into the United States.

As an important contributor to national efforts to counter transnational organized crime, DoD’s Counter-Narcotics mission is to conduct operations and activities to disrupt and degrade national security threats posed by drug trafficking, piracy, transnational organized crime and threat finance networks related to illicit drug trafficking activities.

“Illicit drug trafficking is a key funding mechanism for terrorists and transnational crime,” said Craig Scherer, PGI’s Director of DoD Programs. “Preventing these activities is an important mission that we are proud to support.”

PGI will support DoD’s NORTHCOM by providing manned ISR aircraft platforms, flight operations, maintenance, contractor logistics support and intelligence analysis at multiple locations both inside and outside the United States.
